The self-described “G.O.A.T.” of The Voice will retire from his scarlet chair, according to a statement released by Blake Shelton. True, Blake Shelton’s upcoming last season, which will air in 2023, has been made public. The news coincides with the announcement that Kelly Clarkson will return after a break and would be joined by newcomers Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan on the Season 23 coaching group.
“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while, and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after next season,” Shelton said in a statement.
“This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people; you are the best.” “It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week.
I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one of my fellow Coaches over the years, including my wife Gwen Stefani!
I have to give a huge shout out to the singers–the ‘Voices,’ who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent, and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their Coach.
Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who watch and support these Artists, us Coaches, and everyone at The Voice who are chasing their dreams.
It would not happen without you!”
Shelton joined Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green in the first season of The Voice in 2011, and has been a coach ever since. With eight triumphs for #TeamBlake, the country star, proudly holds the record for the most successful Coach in the show’s history.
A listing of TeamBlake’s winning seasons:
2012-Season 2 (Jermaine Paul),
2012-Season 3 (Cassadee Pope),
2013-Season 4 (Danielle Bradbery),

2017-Season 13 (Chloe Kohanski),
2020-Season 18 (Todd Tilghman),

To say that the show will not be the same without our country boy Blake Shelton is an understatement. He will be dearly missed.
