In March 2006, Sonya Eddy made her debut on General Hospital as Epiphany Johnson, a no-nonsense, strong-willed nurse who is constantly contributing her two cents with her medical colleagues. She participated in General Hospital: Night Shift as a regular cast member from 2007 to 2008, a spin off of General Hospital which aired on SOAPnet. Although she shared the screen with many talented actors from the venerable mother show, while on GH:NS her most famous co-star was none other than the dashing Billy Dee Williams.
In 1990, Eddy made her stage debut in Ruby Dee’s play Zora Is My Name. Additionally, other stage credits include performing in The Comedy of Errors, The Witch in Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, and Bloody Mary in South Pacific. Sonya Eddy was never an ideal actress, with her talents, voice and personality her IMDb is crazy long. Check it out by clicking here.
Eddy was born in Concord, California on June 17, 1967. At the University of California, Davis, she majored in dance and theater and graduated with a B.A. in 1992. Eddy was a registered practical nurse (LVN).
It is very sad to report that Sonya passed on Monday, December 19, 2022. TMZ is reporting her cause of death as follows. Tyler Ford, Sonya Eddy’s co-producer and close friend, informed TMZ that the surgery she had on December 9 was planned; it wasn’t an emergency. He claims that after being discharged from the hospital on the 11th, she started to feel unwell once more and returned on the 15th, when doctors discovered she had contracted a serious infection.
Tyler continued by stating that the infection was uncontrollable and that Monday morning, she had been put on life support; by Monday night, she had passed away.
This was Sonya, voice of an Angel! Aways lighting up the GH Nurse’s Ball.
