The simple facts: Raven Mone Bowens was born on March 24, in San Diego, California, Bowens is an actor and producer. The San Diego native grew up in Lincoln Park, close to Imperial Avenue and 55th Street, an area she claimed locals refer to as the “Four Corners of Death.”  She attended and graduated from Serra High School (now Canyon Hills High School).

After graduating from high school, she expressed her interest in acting to her grandparents, who ran the modeling agency McKenna Models & Talent. Her grandmother took her to an event where she got to audition and meet agents from Los Angeles, and her grandfather took her first headshots.

Raven stated to a local San Diego newspaper that her grandmother has been and always will be her biggest supporter. She was always incredibly supportive of me, and ever since she passed away, she has shone a bright light on my career. I wish she could be here to witness it now.

Bowen shared in an interview with ‘Black Magazine’, her high school football player boyfriend Todd Doxey encouraged her to seriously pursue acting in her senior year of Sarah High school. However, after her boyfriend’s devastating death, Bowens didn’t pursue much of anything because of her distraught feelings.

Bowen didn’t become motivated to keep acting until she had a sober discussion with her father. As a working actress, Diane Carole, Hallie Berry, Cameron Diez, Gloria Gifford, Elizabeth Taylor, and Diane Carole—whom Bowen has dubbed the “soap opera Queen Goddess”—are some of the actresses who inspire her.

It wasn’t until Bowen had a serious conversation with her father that inspired her to continue acting. As a working actress, Bowen looks to many actresses for inspiration such as Hallie Berry, Cameron Diez, Gloria Glifford, Elizabeth Taylor, and Diane Carole who Bowen has dubbed the “soap opera Queen Goddess.”

She gushes, calling working with Jackée [Harry, Paulina] “a dream.” “I watched SISTER, SISTER repeatedly as a child, so I was very eager to meet her and collaborate with her.

Before a shoot, Bowen will frequently work with her acting coach Gloria Glifford to rehearse, run through some lines, and perfect her delivery.
